Flower/weed ID please???

Recommended Posts

My wife and I were out atv'ing in the mines, north of Coleraine, MN.

Along side one of the roads we were on, we saw this unusual flower/weed.

The flowers were white and then it looks like the flower turns into a birds nest.

Photo is not the best, but hopefully good enough for an ID.

Thanks,

yep its Daucus carota, usually called Queen Anne's Lace, or Wild Carrot

dig one up and break the root, smells just like a carrot

I've been known to eat them, but it does look somewhat similar to poison hemlock, so you better know what the difference is. They're also I think a marginally effective birth control, I dont know if its the root or the flower that is ground and ingested for that purpose (historically anyways)
