Tikka T3 vs Remington CDL ..fluted or not??

Recommended Posts

i have been looking at getting a new hunting rifle. The two models that have really caught my eye have been the tikka T3 with the walnut stock in both the stainless and blued and also the Remington CDL also in the stainless or blued and does fluting the barrel have any real benefits. currently i shoot the Rem 7mm Mag and that works great. looking for something strong and reliable that still looks decent in the safe. concerns are the magazine on the tikka being plastic and does the fluted barrel weaken over time and warp due to the loss of metal. all opinions and suggestions will be appreciated.

I had concerns about the plastic clip as well, for what it's worth I've used a T3 for the last few MN deer seasons and half dozen or so trips to the gravel pit during the summers in between. The clip still looks and performs like new.
