gundy89
I know there is a thread for the beer guys. Anyone else do wine? I just started this spring. So far I've done a batch of Riesling, Vignor (sp?), Skeeter Pee, Rhubarb, Mango, Blueberry, and just started a Jalapeno peach. The riesling and Vignor were 6 gallon kits. the fruit wine in 2 quart recipes. Branched off and made my own recipe for the jalapeno peach. We'll see how it turns out. I'm not much of a wine drinker but the wife is. It's pretty amazing how cheap a bottle of wine is when you do it yourself. The riesling and Vignor turned out to be around $2 per bottle. Skeeter pee was around 75 cents a bottle. It's an original hard lemonade. Not like mikes, more like lemonade with liquor in it.
Jim916
I just started doing wine too. I have been doing wine and beer. I have done a merlot, a cabernay , and a strawbery lemonade skeeter pee.Right now I have a dandelion wine ,a cherry, and a blackberry port style going. My next one to start is a regular skeeter pee for our halloween chili party. It went over really good last year. The jalepeno peach wine sounds interesting. How did the rhubarb wine turn out?
gundy89
The rhubarb is still going. I've been tasting it and I think it's going to turn out good. How'd you do the Strawberry lemonade? That sounds fantastic!
Jim916
The strawberry lemonade skeeter pee was good. I used strawberry pie filling, but I think if I did it again, I would use regular strawberries. I bottled the skeeter pee in 12oz bottles, and it is about 10% abv. I forgot to warn a few people how strong it is. My mother in law really likes it! This year I am making just the regular skeeter pee.I also made some welches white grape raspberry wine, I have not tried it yet though.I am doing the fortifying stage of my port style wine today. Adding everclear and brandy.
