justplainbob
I have a 4 year old Merc 115 4-stroke. The owners manual mentions that there is a low pressure fuel filter and a high pressure fuel filter, and that a special tool is needed to replace the high pressure filter and that only a marine mechanic should attempt it. Does anyone have any experience changing the high pressure filter? Thanks
fishhuntwork
I replaced both of my filters this spring. If you want to be totally safe you could bleed down the shrader valve (valve stem for checking fuel pressure) until you have no pressure there. You don't need a special tool at all. I believe I used a screw driver to push the tab in.

boatfixer
I just replaced a pair last week, never needed any special tool.
