18,000BTU empire heater

I am looking at the 18,000BTU Empire heater. The specs say it has a built in thermostat. Since the thermostat is built in and can not be mounted on the wall away from the heater is this a disadvantage?

Since its built in is this going to cause one end of the house to be hotter than the other end.

Does anybody here have this kind of heater? How does it work? I think it would be a bit easier to install because I would not need to run wires to a thermostat.

Forced air is still in the running too.

Thank you for the help

I dont care for that style of Empire heaters, I like the dv-215 better which is 15K. On the style youre talking about its hard to see if the pilot is lit or if the burners are even on, you can hear them but its hard to see, plus the thermostat is just a number not a temp., the ones you put on the wall you set to 70 degrees, the ones that are built in you have to "learn" where to put it and if it gets warm out it seems you need to "re-learn" where to put it. I have both the old style and new style in my house, bought it that way, the guy that built it put 2 smaller heaters in, both 10K.

I think that particular model is made in China, not sure about that though. I would stick with a 15,000 DV model, I have a 10,000 BTU model in my 8x14 and it is more than enough and it works great. I have a 12v ceiling fan that I use for air circulation. It only uses about .75 amps per hour and is quiet as a mouse even after 5 years of use.

Is this a ventless heater that you are talking about? I used to sell propane heaters and we would sell both vented and ventless. I gotta saw that the vented ones work better in my opinion. I have a ventless in out hunting shack and its not very well insulated and we can still tell that there is propane while the vented ones you really cant smell that propane both work though all depends on how much you want to pay....

Thats just my opinion though from what I have experianced.
