97 chevy blazer

Recommended Posts

I have a 97 blazer and just noticed a gas leak. It is not a huge leake but I am seeing it on the frame underneath the back door on the driver side. Would this be coming from the tank or a fuel line. I know I will have to probly trace the leak myself, but if there is a spot I could start looking that would help me a lot. Thanks in advance

Tim

Find the fuel filter on the inside of the of the frame rail on the drivers side. Follow the pressure line from the fuel filter back to the tank.

If its the line the frame would be more wet than the tank. If its the tank just the opposite it would be more wet than the line.

If its fairly dry when you take a peak cycle the key on and off a couple of times. If you see it start to drip its a fuel line leaking. If it doesn;t drip than its something with the tank.

Also if the tank is leaking it should have set a check engine light for an evap leak. If there is no check engine light than its likley the fuel lines.

I have a '95 s-10 blazer and was having the same issue. Turns out, my tank was rotting out and gas was seeping through. Luckily my was towards the top of the tank and only leaked if I filled it up over 3/4 full. My fuel line rotted out and burst 2 weeks after having the gas tank replaced.
