Trailer Wiring

Ok I am just !@#$%^& baffled! Trying to rewire plug on boat trailer. Coming out of the trailer there is 7 wires. Now correct me if I am wrong PLEASE! Of those 7 there should be 1 left stop and 1 left turn that get hooked in the same slot. Same for 1 right stop and 1 right turn hooked together in same slot. That leaves three wires....two running/marker lights and a ground...correct? Why can't I seem to get everything working? Keep blowing fuses on the truck. Any ideas?

If you're blowing fuses in the truck, somewhere you've got a short going directly to ground. Have you checked all the wires with an ohm meter? Do you know FOR SURE which wire is ground?

Don't mean to sound like I'm pickin' on ya... But sometimes we all overlook even the most obvious of things.

EDIT: Do you have trailer brakes?
