Fussy Fuel Lines!!

Have you fellas heard about the new Fussy Fuel Lines? When you go to pump up the pressure bulb you have to hold them vertically rather than horizontally or haphazardly in your hand. I thought the Master Marine Technician in charge of briefing me on the subject was trying to fool an old guy who looked sorta dumb.

Well...he was right!! I double checked owner manual. If you are zipping along in your new boat, large or small, and suddenly the engine does that "Oh no...out of fuel thing"...you know: where it runs down and stops, go to the pressure hose first thing. Disconnect from motor (or tank) depress stainless ball in end of hose fitting to motor (or tank) and pump with bulb VERTICAL until you pump fuel. Re-connect, start up and continue zipping.

This is all true. It may only happen now and then, but if it has you can check in here and confirm what I have been told.

Your welcome.

Sometimes having to hold a primer bulb vertical is nothing new, in fact ive saved many people a lot of money by recomending that rather than run out and buy a new one and have the old one still last and be fuctional for years. But what you are talking about is a brand? Fussy Fuel Lines? or is that what the tech was refering to them as?

So sorry. It is NOT a brand name. We have an 8 hp Yamaha with two or three hours on it and it seems to have developed this goofy fuel hose/tank problem. Never the same thing. One minute motor runs fine....next time bulb will not stay up and motor won't start!! I was told about the "vertical" bulb trick to get it pumped up. Seems weird to me.

I think there is leak somewhere in the TANK and that keeps bulb from staying full and maintaining fuel flow. You can hear air "squish" when you squeeze the bulb and I am saying if you are hearing that sound in the tank you do

NOT have a tight seal on hose to tank.

Crazy boating stuff man. LOL!

But a brand new motor!!??

BINGO!! Gonna save your note for my [PoorWordUsage] brother! LOL. Been tellin' him that for three days!

Okay, thanks. My pals at Yamaha are standing behind me with new tank and hose and no arguments.
