rundrave Posted July 26, 2011 Share Posted July 26, 2011 is this the 400 2 stroke?its pretty common repair for these.the weak point on the 400 is the piston, and the counterbalance. Alot of owners dont know you are to check and change the counterbalance oil regularly and more so if you ride in water. The counterbalance drives the waterpump.when doing the tear down there is a nut that is reverse threaded that you need a special socket to take off, or you can try to take it off with other means but then it gets ugly.
