Riggers, divers, boards... Is there a "Do All" trolling rod?

Moose-Hunter

Question

I'l looking for a few rods to match up with some Daiwa SG27's for some "do-all" trolling rigs. I know there are specialized rods out there for down rigging, divers and planer boards. BUT... Is there one rod that will work for all three? Targeted species would be walleye, trout and salmon.

I've got a half dozen reels but no rods. I can probably afford (4) new rods IF the price is right. That would leave me a pair of reels "in reserve".

Some suggestions please?

BTW... If you know of affordable St. Croix model... I'm all ears!! grin

I would look into some 8'6" telescoping for your board rods and a 7' for riggers. Some guys like longer rigger rods but I have found setting rigger lines easier with 7' rods.

Shimano makes some nice rods. For cheaper rods that are still good check out the Wilderness series rods. If you can find some TDR's they are nice. Ugly sticks also are nice but the fight on them isnt as nice.

For board rods I love my Teloras and have used the Limit Creek Telescoping leadcore rods on boards and they have worked out well.

Bass Pro makes some nice trolling rods as well. I havent found any 1 rod that works for long lining, boards and riggers.

E-mail me and I can bounce some ideas off ya depending on how much you want to spend.
