Brought my 71 johnson 100 horse to a mechanic after it was stuck in forward gear. He said he couldnt get it started and could not find the power pack on it? Is there even a power pack on that motor. Shouldnt it just be points and contacts? He says it doesnt have any spark. What are my options and does anyone know of someone that knows these motors real well? Thank you!

Its not really a power pack but what they call an amplifier. Yes you are correct, it does also have points. Kind of a different sysytem than most are used to. You need to make sure the battery is fully charged before any trouble shooting.
