4wheelingmama
Does anyone know much about the clark/jackson county WI area? We are thinking of taking a trip there this fall with our 4 kids and my parents. All of us would have a child on the back of our ATV. Is it easy riding? Where would be the best place to stay so we don't have to haul our 4 wheelers each day (not camping though)? Any information would be helpful. Thanks
Rippinlip
We go there all atleast half a dozen times a year and really like it.The trails are very nice riding, little more sandy in Jackson county and little more rocky in Clarke. There is quite a few places to stay, anywhere from Black River Falls to the south end of the trail system to some small towns like Hummingbird, Fairchild to the northern side of the system. Not sure if there is much for hotel/motels on the trail system, because we camp and those are all on the trail system.Maybe a Hotel in Black River Falls on the north side of the Hwy 94 that runs by the trail system.Good Luck and happy riding. 4wheelingmama
Thanks for the info. How do we go about getting a WI trail pass?
helpme
Thanks for the info. How do we go about getting a WI trail pass? http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/cs/registrations/wivrs/ WI allows you to dual register your ATV in the state, the registration is good for 2 years and is cheaper. If you buy the trail pass, it is only good for 1 year. You can register the machines online with the link above and print off your registration slip to carry with you. Your registration sticker will show up in the mail.
Dave S
Maybe someone can verify this for me but aren't trail passes in WI good from July 1 to June 30 the following year?In other words if you bought a trail pass on June 29th, you'd have to purchase another after July 1? GatorBait
I frequent Black River Falls usually 3-4 times a year for wheeling. We stay at the Best Western Arrowhead Lodge (Big Orange Moose near the Hwy). Trail is right off of their parking lot. Bascially for us it's a central location as you can ride in a lot of differnt directions from there. The trails well maintained and good riding in the summer. Even our winter excursions have been very good times. Don't have much traffic to compete with either, few locals and such but mostly you are by yourself. It's and hour n a half from me so it's a close location with great benefits. Plenty of dining areas and bars with great food. If you are in this area, I would be carrying extra gas for each machine as there are a few trails that end up with no or very expensive gas locations, as they are deep into the sticks. Good Luck and Enjoy your time.
