While everyone has their favorites, for icing walleyes it's hard to beat a small jigging spoon, jigging rapala or minnow on a plain hook. Those would be the three options.

Welcome to the North country.

Hey X-Tex;

Spent three years in Ft. Hood many years ago.

Most of your bass rods, you will be able to use for walleyes during open water.

Four major presentations:
1: jig
2: Lindy Rig (Kinda like a carolina rig, but with a slip sinker.
3: Trolling cranks (minnow stlye works best: Put your fat cranks away) / spinners (little Joe's)
4: Old fashion slip bobber.

Compared to bass fishing:
You want light line (4 to 6 pound test).
Also, these fish have a tendancy to be more of a light biter, so feeding line is very common.

Good Luck!!!
