I have a 71 Johnson 100 horse that when ever I go to take off it really "chokes out". when going trolling speed it runs great. Once i get it to full throttle it runs great too! Just the accleration part of it is when it has issues? Any Ideas on what this could be? I did have one person tell me that I might need to adjust the carbs cause it may be running to lean. Thanks a lot!!!

I does "kind of" sound like a carb issue... What do your plugs look like?

I agree with Dan, check the plugs, but it sounds to me like you have some crud in the carbs. I would get it going and squirt carb cleaner into it and rev it back and forth to see if that clears it out. If not you may have to take them apart and clean them. I would bet that will solve your problem.

I thought it might be the plugs too but I put 4 brand new ones in to see if that would help the problem. Checked the gap on em too! I will try cleaning the carbs thanks guys!!

Sraying carb cleaner through the carb will do almost nothing. If it turns out to be a dirty carb (which I tend to believe) they will need to be diassembled and cleaned.
