The Grebe
My friend got my old Polaris ATV running for me and it ran good, started right up each time I tried it. I let it sit in the garage about a month and was going to take it for a run around the block and it wouldn't start?Battery is charged up, gas in the tank, seems to be plenty of compression, plug has spark and it get's wet so there is something going into the cylinder, but it won't start? We tried starting fluide, same deal, wet plug, no fire? Any ideas?
Rippinlip
I would trry a new spark plug, I have seen where it will spark while out of the cylinder, but as soon as you put some compression on it, not enough juice to get the fuel burning.Just my .
The Grebe
We tried some different plugs that were laying around in the garage and had no luck....maybe all of em are shot? Anyways, went and bought a couple of new ones, had em look it up in the book (Wasn't on computer) so I knew they were the right ones...haven't tried them yet, might get to it tomorrow? Thanks for the input bud.
The Grebe
My friend figured out what the problem was with the ATV. A speck of crud got caught in the needle valve and the valve stayed open, allowing gas to continue to gravity feed into the cylinder. It leaked from there into the crank case. Everything was full of gas so it just wouldn't start. He totally cleaned the carb, drained everything out and it's now running again. Eric Wettschreck
I hate to state the obvious, but make sure you change your oil also.
