Rainbows in the Mist

for the last seven years we've been going to a small lake to fish rainbows on fathers day and this year we had a blast in the fog.

We ended up 15 for 22 and all the fish came on small spoons and small husky jerks either on the riggers or lead core. What a hoot. Grilled rainbows and some for the smoker as well.

Is it a lake in Central MN, that also has phenomenal bass fishing? And tons of snake jacks also?

It's not Christmas or a metro lake.

I've only caught one northern there through the ice and never caught a bass there.

Ive never been to those lakes. The one im thinking of is near St. Cloud... Metro lakes to me is within a 3 hr radius of the TC's. If youve never caught a bass on the lake im thinking of, you have never been on the bottom of 10-30 feet.

Yep, It's Wahtab,

I've never caught anything very big out there but we sure do have fun.

The little bows are perfect for the grill or pan, but best in the smoker.

i brined mine for 24 hours and smoked them yesterday. wonderfull!!! i do smelt i catch the same way. good luck.

I brined for about 36 hours with the Wild Trout from High Mountain.

They are the bomb!

Did mine as whole fish, warm one up in the micro for about35 seconds one time, YUMMMMMMMMM!

Ive heard people having better luck with downriggers than a slip bobber like i use and just drifting a straight jig with a worm. Regardless, you dont bass fish this lake? Or catch some snake pike. i bet those wouldnt be bad smoked either...

I love the smoked northern, it's just when I go to Watab it's a rainbows only game.
