Fish skin for bait?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking: last summer, my parents had a salmon shore dinner up in AK, along a huge, sharp drop-off somewhere on the Kenai peninsula. They took the extra salmon skin and used it to bait hooks + sinkers and caught black rockfish from shore.

Anyone tried something similar in MN rivers? I bet you could snatch up some nice channels.

As long as it's part of a rough fish, skin would work -- as does the rest of the fish. Guts, head, etc. However, you can't use carp or tulibee (ciscoe), or parts of them, unless the tullies have been preserved properly by someone licensed to do so. Also, no parts (not even leftovers from from cleaning) of game fish can be used in MN.
