Owning the F75 and a similar boat, I would agree with the numbers from that performance bulletin. I have it networked to my HDS 7, so I see the real time MPG numbers.

The close to 6 mpg seems a little optimistic for a F150 on a Nav 175, but probably not that far off. It is a little surprising since it has an additional 80% cubic inch displacement. But the drag from the boat is very similar to that of the F75 bulletin, so I suppose that's what's really at play. That F150 is not working that hard at 3000 RPM's, so good fuel mileage.

One other thing to note is the difference in test props. The F150 uses a Reliance which was really optimized for the popular F150. Probably has very little slip and is very efficient.

Makes sense to me. The bigger motor has a bigger engine diplacement but has to do less work. Think of it like a motor that has double the displacment but runs at 1/2 the RPM is pulling the same fuel.

Yamaha would be crazy to publish false data, they could get sued, so I believe it.

I didn't know the HD series GPS could link to the motor and give real time fuel numbers. Interesting.
