Battery charging problem

GFNER

Question

I have a 24 volt motor and one battery always takes alot longer to charge than the other. Both batteries were bought at the same time, and are identical batteries. What would cause this? Thanks.

I have the same problem with a new battery I just got. Instead of 4-5 hours to charge, its taking a couple days. Is there any way to test the batteries for a bad cell? Will the store I purchased from do this?

Thanks for your advice!!!

If they're not gell cell batteries you can pop the caps off, take a volt meter (multi tester) and go from the positive post to the first cell you should have roughly 2 volts. Then put positive lead in first cell negative lead in second cell should be same reading on meter. And so on down the line to test rest of the cells. If any are low you have a weak cell. Hope I explained it well enough.

I usually start loosing the battery hooked directly to the positive lead going to the trolling motor first. I think it's because the draw is stronger there then between the batteries, IDK...

Are you charging both batteries separately,or charging one through the other? If it is the latter, you need to separate them and charge them independently, Or one will become over charged and the other under.
