Canoe Registration?????

I am buying a brand new canoe from a store it is under 16ft. Do I need to register it? On the DNR HSOforum it says the dealer will issue registration except canoes and kayaks.

Yes, you do need to register it. Just head to your local DMV and they'll get you set.

Yep DMV it up - I just brought the info sheet on my kayak with serial and whatnot. I thought fees were pretty reasonable for a 3 year registration but it did surprise me at first.

Yeah, I believe ALL watercraft need to be registered.

I picked up the new canoe today. It was $24 at the DNR building in Saint Paul to register it. I would recommend going there if you need any type of watercraft license or renewal. I was in and out in less that 10 minutes. I stopped at my local DMV and the line was 30 deep.

Taking the new canoe out for her maiden voyage tomorrow for a little bass and pike action.
