Been thinking about getting a Gator for awhile, finally did a few weeks ago for an early Mother's Day gift (expecting our first baby in a few more months). It's a 2011 XUV 825i 4x4. Absolutely love it. We're going to get a lot of use out of it, and have some fun with it too! My German Shorthairs love riding in it around the yard. We took it out last weekend looking for morels, but no luck finding any. Would love to fill the dump box up with some of those tasty little things!!!

Got a new 2011 825I Camo Gator tonight with the front brush gaurd with dump, also the tall black seats. Stock black wheels for now. Just drove down the driveway alittle bit and WOW it is nice and quiet and smooth compared to my 07 rhino.

Also got a STIHL FC70 trimmer for a Great price!! The wife will be busy tomorrow. Lol

Anyone have a bed mat in the rhino or any mods? I need to do?

I got a horn, lights, rear view mirror and winch to put on the gator but I am thinking about doing a Mutli mount for the winch so.......I will store it in the bed and then I can use it in the front or back

Congrats landscaper! You'll love it. We have the bed mat just because it was part of the package, otherwise I would have not spent the extra $ on it. But I will say it is really nice, thick quality so not a bad idea IMO. We have to get a winch yet, just not going to buy one thru JD because the price was outrageous! The multi mount for it is a great idea. I don't think we are going to add too much more to our's but do want to get a mirror and some more lights for it. So many of our trails around here are on the township roads and I just feel more lights would be safer.

Yes I did see the bed mat comes with that one package but I guess I wanted the extra 800 off so I had to get it before today. I am looking at say a mat the you stand on in your shop or put in your barn for cattle or horses I think it is used for and it for sure is a 1/2 inch thick! So I think that will work....which I hope to get that soon.

Thenwhen I find some time which will be tough with all my landscaping jobs I will work on the mirror, horn and stuff. I already see I need a weed eater/trimmer holder.

I haven't looked to see. The play in it to see what I could put in there to help out.

Also on my last post the miles add up faster than the hours......I think I got 5.7 hours and 60 some miles. I haven't done much to it or even ridden it but I do have my to do list. Its hard working 7:30 to 4 then landscaping till dark.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
