Problems with spinners ??????????????

I have attempted to use low speed spinners(Joe's)and I have tried to tie them on 8lb. XL and everytime I go to pull the knot, the line stretches. Also the hook seems to spin after I hook my minnow. What am I doing wrong??? Looking for suggestions??? Thanks.

Its very tricky to get a minnow not to spin on a spinner rig. You need a Aberdeen minnow hook on the rig if you dont have one. Next, run the tip and barb of the hook through the front of the mouth and then exit it out the right gill. Then take the point of the hook and gently push it through the skin directly under the dorsal. The hook eye should be just sticking out of the minnows mouth. Smaller sized fatheads and rainbow minnows work best. The hook and the minnow need to be sized together. If you don't succeed at first, keep trying. As far as your line problem, I go with trilene 4 or 6# XT. The XL stretches too much. Also try wetting the knot before tighting it up. I would also recommend Infiltrator spinners. They are the best i have used. You can see them at http://fishingminnesota.com/sportgood.html Good Luck
