2000 Corolla- Bad Window Motor?

Recommended Posts

I bought a 2000 corolla a couple weeks ago, and the drivers window switch was broke. So I bought a new switch, got it in today and the window would only go down a little ways and stop.

Would take some pushing and pulling to get it back up. It seemed like it was running on a battery, where it would take 4-5 minutes to regain enough charge to push the window up or down. Is this just a bad motor, or should I replace the whole regulator?

Here's what I would do.

Remove the window from the regulator. The see if the window moves up and down freely.

If it doesn't you'll need to check the slides/guides to make sure they are good.

If it does check to see that the regulator moves up and down freely with the window removed. If it doesn't the regulator is the problem. If it does than the motor is probably.

Usually the motors will have a circuit protection device built into them. If the motor stops for a couple on minutes then starts to work its usually that getting hot and opening the circuit.
