Lowrance LCX-17M and Navionics Question.

Recommended Posts

I have a LCX-17M Locator and yes I know I'm behind the times with this old POS. But thats what I have. Anyways, I'm trying to download the "latest" software onto a card and it goes on the card fine but when I place the card into the locator it doesn't acknowlege the chip. I've looked in Browse MMc files but it isn't their. Then I put my '07 navionics chip in and it comes right up. What am I doing wrong? I've followed the Lowrance directions to a T, but its not working.

Also, My '10 navionics chip is VERY slow in my hand held gps and in my locator. Is their any way to speed these up?

Any help would be great.

How big is the SD Card you are trying to use, I'm guessing that is the issue, your Lowrance probably has a limit on the size of card it will read, if you have a 128 - 512MB card around, I would try that instead.

I agree, find a smaller card and use the Lowrance to format it and it should work.

And no you can't speed them up, you are limited to the processor speed inside and with those older units they have a lot smaller processors than the newer ones as they are designed to handle the newer map cards. But even some of the lower end units sold today aren't fast enough to keep up on the high definition lakes.
