Fish&Fowl
Just installed a water seperator filter on my boat when I bought it used last May. The rig had about 100 hours on it. Went to change the filter tonight and it was completely full. Smelled like gas but not too strong, so I assume it was water. Is that normal? I put on quite a few hours but that seems like a lot of water!!Thanks for any info!
311Hemi
It would normally be full of gas, the water collects on the bottom. I believe the water enters on the outside of the filter, goes through the filter and then exits in the inside of it.
SkunkedAgain
Hmmmm, do you need to change the filters often? I never thought of this.
311Hemi
I think it's "recommended" to do it every year or every so many hours. I got a good deal on a filter much larger than what was needed so I have been doing it every other year.
Fish&Fowl
311,Thanks for the info! I plan on doing it once a year, for $7 a filter it's very cheap insurance.
