Towtector

MallardMayhem

Question

I recently bought a new used boat this spring and want to keep the rocks chips/road spray off of it as much as possible. Just looking for ideas on what others have/use to do the same. I really like the towtector but would like to see if anyone has pros/cons to it or any other systems out there since they are $300. I will have the boat for many years so i can kind of justify spending the money on something to keep it in nice condition.

Thanks MM

I've heard only good things as well, as long as you don't travel on gravel. Main thing, with any set-up (whiskers or flaps) is to have them at the correct height (IE- distance from the road with your trailer on the truck).

I've researched this extensively, and even though I haven't gone this route, if you travel on gravel, best set-up is a good receiver mounted mud / rock flaps (Road Wing makes a good one that can be custom cut to get right height) and a trailer mounted protector (TrailerTux, RockNocker or Bow Buddy).

Over the road, the Towtector is okay, but lotta $$ for something cheaper rubber flaps will do. I've seen a few melted by exaust pipes as well, if you have 'em coming out the back. good luck...
