Best way to keep minnows alive

I like to put a few cigarette butts into the baitwell, somewhere around 0.5 butts per liter of water. It culls the school so that I'm only fishing the strongest minnows, or deadbait.

Careful Tom I never go over .2376 or problems can happen and you'll end up with just one grumpy minnow left in da tank..... you have been warned.

Yeah, but you put a hook in that minnow and put him overboard, and he'll flat out scare fish into the boat.
