Whats up with boaters on Voyagers?

Me and my family were taking a houseboat vacation last weekend on a Voyagier Houseboat. We had to tie up my 01 1650 Rebel against the houseboat with a buoy and cushion since the two other boats in the party used the hookups. Most of the boaters who passed us did not care to slow down reducing the immense wakes that they created especially in the narrows starting from Crane Lake.
We went only as far as Mitchell Bay. It was windy sunday morning on the lake, but my boat took a bigger pounding from boaters passing by. Paint scratched up a bit, paint grounded down to a couple spots.
There was one guy driving a Lund ski boat with a sterndrive that passed us and almost crashed into the boat in front of him. He was going so fast that his wakes broke the line securing my boat.

I just wanted to vent.

That's just the way they drive up there.
They don't slow down for anything or anybody.
It's been that way for as long as I can remember. If you're fishing a narrows look out, they'll do 50 MPH right by you.

There's a lot of water to cover and people just put the hammer down and go. I found it strange the first time too. It's kind of the law of the land there (or water in this case). Just be aware of it. I doubt if it will change.

Too bad a few people make it hard on the majority of safe and sane boaters/fisherpeople. I will comment on fishing narrows. I do this on Rainy Lake and if you slow down, this creates a larger wake than necessary. 50 MPH is way too fast, the speedlimit on Voyagers Park is 45 mph, but a large boat slowed down makes a 3-5 foot wave versus a much smaller wave when the boat is slowed down, but left on "step".

I'm with happyfish. When I fish the narrows the boats that go slow kick up the biggest waves. I know they are trying to be helpful, but I'd rather have them go by with a 1 foot wake than the monster waves they kick up by slowing down.

It is a sad reality, you ever been to Lake Winnie on opener??????????? You think V-park is bad, just go to Winnie on opener or a busy weekend. Seems people just dont care, most of them are from out of town and really dont care. But than again, do you slow down for every car that drives by you?
Faster boats mean smaller wakes.

At least they werent trolling by you at 10mph singing Johnny Cash "A boy named Sue" as loud as they can while you are anchored off the point on Peterson Bay. Maybee that just happens on opener.

The speed thing doesnt bother me. Niether does the drunken singing. As long as there are no jet ski's on the lake, I am a happy man.
