4 2/34 shells in a 3 1/2 inch gun

Recommended Posts

I just won a browning bps in 31/2 in. It holds more 2 3/4 shells than the law allows when waterfowling. What is the DNR official stance on dealing with this?

I like to carry a full blind bag and what if I hunt with a partner with a 2 3/4 gun?

I know this has been covered before, but I just did a search and didn't get any matches. If someone would link me to the post that would be great. I don't want to appear like a troll.

Exactly as above. You can only have two shells in the magazine for waterfowling right. Two 3.5" shells are just over 7" total. The factory plug should limit the magazine length to less than 8" if the gun came with the right plug. If you have 7.5" or even 8" of magazine you CAN'T get three 2.75" shells in as they would total up to 8.25". Not real complicated. With the plug in you can get all but the last 3/4" or so of a third 2.75" shell in the magazine.

Thanks guys,

I just reread the owners manual, it is only with the plug out that the magazine holds and extra 2 3/4 shell. In my excitement of winning I missread the magazine capacity. Having never owned a 3 1/2, I was looking for anything new.

The gun should make a great pit blind gun or turkey gun, but I can't imagine carrying it in the field all day. It weighs a ton compared to my bird gun and that's without a full magazine of three and a halfs.
