Maxxed Out
We ended up going to Carrington ND last weekend. The maxxed out crew had a ton of fun in our three days. We found about 10-20k birds feeding and roosting in a 2 square mile area outside of carrington and basically hunted those same birds all weekend. We ended up with somewhere between 120-130 birds on Friday and Saturday. We had a ton of fun and we could have really put up some insane number but.....the last thing we did was take the snow covers off my layout blinds when we left the farm on Thursday. It's our fault for not getting the most recent weather report but what was supposed to be a light rain/snow mix turned into 8" of snow up there. We ran a spread of 400-500 decoys and we ended up with three ecallers (Thanks Tony). Here are a few pics We did shoot two banded birds. Four came right in on Saturday and we shot all four two were banded! They were banded in Canada on the same day in 2009. That's pretty crazy to think that those two birds have managed to stay together in the middle of 7 million birds. Here's a few more pics
Maxxed Out
And yes, in the picture on the tailgate with me, the juvie in the bottom right corner was impaled by a corn stalk.

bustumup
Looks like a blast! Glad I could assist in the "Snow Removal". When you get a pile of birds like that, what do you do with them? Do you take them in to a meat mkt. and have them smoked, grind into sausage or deal with them yourself? Have you tried the bird hitch? johnsd16
Wow, nice trip!! We hunted the same general area April 8-10 and there was very little snow and highs in the 50s one day. What a difference a week makes for weather. Cool on the bands. Our only band/collar came out of a group of four this year as well. It was a 2004 band, finally got killed on it's 14th trip where it could have been hunted. It's more amazing that those two held together in those giant flocks through a few years. Likely mated pair?? I imagine you haven't gotten the genders back, if they do that with snows.
Maxxed Out
We're assuming mated pair or siblings would make the most sense.
