GOOD Local shops willing to help us fix/build rods

Recommended Posts

I have many rods needing tip tops and guides. I visited a local well know shop seeking parts, advice and commradery. While milling around looking like I needed help, I experienced a grey haired, well kept, manager or owner type employee walk past my Carhart wearing self to a Columbia vest wearing gentleman next to me, and asked if he could help him. It seemed like there was a conscious decision on behalf of the employee to prefer dealing with the guy that appeared to be wearing more money. I hung out for a little while longer before deciding to leave. I am looking for a shop that sells what I need to fix my current rods and maybe some employee(s) willing to help me get started building my own rods. We are all fisherman and in the same boat. Any guidance would be super appreciated!

TKOGWEE,

If you're willing to drive to downtown Prior Lake you'll find what you're looking for at Midwest Rod and Reel. They have all the supplies you'll need and will answer any questions you have. You'll experience none of the [PoorWordUsage] you mentioned in your post. Al and Bill will treat you right.

I agree with Chad. Don't hesitate to call them either. They have very different hours for their store. If you call and talk to them, someone will be able to work with your schedule and meet you at the store if you cannot make their regular hours.

Also, if you call in advance and maybe give them an idea of what you are needing they can pull everything they will think you need. They have a good inventory of parts at the shop, but also have a lot more where they keep the rest of their stuff.

They probably will tell you, maybe even show you what needs to be done if you are left in the dark as to where to start on your repair. A very knowledgeable group at Midwest! They have showed me how to do many things. Their customer service is above and beyond any other store I've been to.

Just google Mid West Rod and Reel.

Thanks guys! So I'm thinking if Aaron, who's in my neck of the woods, recommends the trek to Prior, they must be some good people. I've built a RC plane and really enjoyed all the custom intricate details that I got to add to make it my own unique project, so I've been excited about the thought of making my own rod where I can let my creative juices, that my wife claims do not exsist, flow. It must be gratifying to net a fish while using a tool one built themselves. I look forward to that chance and the chance to work with what sounds like some great guys.
