Humminbird ducer wiring

Carpenter

Question

I am in the process of hooking up a humminbird 998 and am wondering about the ducer install. I have a y-cable so I can connect the transom ducer and the minnkota universal ducer. How does the unit determine which ducer to read from? Anyone do this? I don't want to buy the switch if I don't have to.

Thanks

Fishwater, correct it's the AS SIDB Y. I want to use the SI transom ducer most of the time. But when I'm using the minnkota I want to use its ducer so I see what's in front of the boat. Will this work? Do I need to change any settings when using the unit? I had to switch some settings on my lowrance when I wanted to see with the other ducer.

You'll need a TS3 switch to accomplish that. The AS SIDB Y is generally used when folks want to run a separate 2D transducer for improved high speed readings. When using the splitter cable the 2d elements in the HDSI are not connected to anything.
