Headlights

I'm not complaining, but I have to ask. Do you all shut your headlights (leave parking lights on) when backing in or loading a trailer at night? I always thought this was a common courtesy as they are not necessary to be on and only hinder others when backing up or loading. Plus it appears to me that the lights have gotten brighter and brighter, almost blinding at times. Just curious.

I shut mine off when backing up and turn them back on when leaving the launch, I'd hate to run over something.

i don't usually load or unload at night. i guess if i did i would shut them off.

On newer vehicals you don't have the option. I have day time lights on my rig, so I can not shut them off.

I THINK, on the Chevy's you can push the emergency break down "one click" to shut off the lights for that purpose. I THINK..don't know about others.

It should be common courtesy, but sometimes the person is in a hurry or just doesn't care. I usually leave my running lights on. Trailer lights unplugged of course.

As for the day time running lights. My buddy has a Zr2 with the day time running lights. In order to turn them off he puts on the E-brake then turns the truck off then restarts it and the lights stay off. That's how I understood it.

hmmm...trailer lights unplugged?? I've never really thought about that. Would that help prevent shorting out or what?

I unplug mine since my lenses aren't waterproof, it helps.

Yup it helps. And the last thing I do before I leave the launch is plug them back in. I give it some time to drain. I know, another process to remember. If you have submersable (spelling?) lights then I would guess it's ok to leave them plugged in.

Yes, I always turn off my headlights. some times when their stacked 4 wide with lights on you can't see at all when it's dark. Thanks for posting, one of my pet peeves!!

On my Yukon there is a button marked "Dome Override" I believe. I push that 4 times and it shuts off the lights bypassing the outomatic lights.
