First Spring Snow Trip

Made a hotel reservation @ The Galley in Webster for Wed.-Fri.and figured to drive west and south of there til we found birds. 6:30pm 15-20 miles west of hotel on Hwy 12 found our first flock and got permission in a cornfield that had birds feeding in it and appeared to be roosting right off the highway near Andover. Set up Thurs.am and shot 4 Ross right away and then nothing. Left the spread out and drove around in the afternoon and found huge numbers just 4-5 miles NW. Couldn't get the truck back out in field to tear down, so planned on hoofing everything out and regroup for morning. Went to roost at sunup and followed flocks out to feed but either couldn't get to where they were feeding because of water and roads out or no landowner to ask permission. Finally got on a farm up near Langford and pass shot 2 juvies and set up there in the morning for our last chance. Tons and tons of geese but couldn't get them to decoy. Ended up with six, but had a lot of fun and hope to do it again next year with about 10,000 decoys and some dynamite.
