Walleye #1
Just picked up this depth finder this weekend and am really pumped out getting it on the boat. I think I am going to love the side imaging features along with everything else. Question is...I assume I am going to have to get the high speed transducer to go with the one that is already with it? Does anyone have any experience with this model on their boat set up? Suggestions, do I need it right away?Walleye #
JohnMickish
I have that sonar and run the two xducers. I run two 'ducers because I do run on the river where the chance of hitting stuff is pretty high. If all you do is run on a lake without floating lumber you should be safe. You can set up the 'ducer to read at speed, there where issues at first with that but they must have made some change. Alot of guys run the big expensive SI 'ducer high so that it won't get hit by stuff in the water.
PerchJerker
I'd say it's about 50/50, guys going with a 2nd transducer and Y cable, vs. guys going with just the SI transducer. mnfishingguy is right, after some problems early on, it's pretty rare to hear of problems with the single transducer installations now. The HB SI unit I use the most is on a boat that has just 1 transducer and it works great.
morepower02
Like said above Two transducers is ideal. We like to mount the large side imaging transducer up a little higher and the high speed transducer in the traditional location. The side imaging transducer seems to be not as affective at higher speeds and is pretty spendy if it gets broken.
