Skeg Guards

I have a small 1" chunk of skeg missing on my 05 Merc 115 optimax. Was looking at putting a skeg guard on. What have you guys used and what do you have to say about them? I'm settling on the blackfin brand, but am looking for input good or bad. Not sure the stainless ones are worth the extra $ unless they have better performance? I only run the standard alum prop as I tend to be adventurous and find rocks from time to time and manage to munch a prop every other year frown Thanks for any input!

A skeg guard is going to do nothing but give you a better chance of breaking the entire skeg of next time you hit something and probably cause more damage to the lower unit. I would either leave it since the chunk is probably not giving you any performance issues, or bring it in and have it filled in and welded.
