iPhone 4 questions....

Recommended Posts

I think at the end of April, I'm going to try to Root my X. If I can get it to work with Apex 1.3 and the bluetooth works, then I'm good to go.

If I brick my phone, then I can just "upgrade" to the i4 the first of May.

One of the other things I'm bummed about is my wife has an Incredible, along with the mom-in-law, so usually whatever vehicle we're in, the correct charger is in it.

Lawn. Rooting is pretty easy. At least it was when i did my windows phone. I assume rooting is the same. Unlock it, root it. Just dont pull the usb cord out during the root wink

Also make sure u can get a stock version of the os so if u ever root back you are good to go. Oh and save everything and back up everything before hand smile any saved passwords write em down before u forget what they are

Rooting the X or any Android is very easy, don't worry about it. If you can install an apps, you can do that too.

You might want then try a custom ROM, they come already rooted.

Well... I can't wait until May 1.

I'm going in.

I've already rooted my phone thanks to the one-click link I found.

Now I'm downloading busybox and trying to locate a bootstrapper...

I can't find any links that work for apex though.

I'm now rooted and strapped, just having a heck of a time getting the Apex ROM... mad

I've found another site now where I can at least save the ROM to my PC, then I'll just have to move it to the SD card later.....

I couldn't find any links for Apex 1.3, so I'm installing 1.4.1 now.

My heart still skips a beat each time I see "formatting"....

Even if it IS just a cell phone.. grin

Well... it looks cool, definately not stock.

However, my bluetooth issue is still there, I cannot use the bluetooth in the truck.

I did get a little solace out of knowing I can kill the Kindle, Amazon MP3 and Blockbuster apps now.

I have a new update. IT WORKS!!!

I didn't do a complete wipe before.

Now my phone works with the bluetooth in the truck, I can stream my music through the bluetooth, AND the steering wheels control the Droid, changing songs, etc.

Now I just have to remember how to get all my data back.

LOL unlocking the root of a mobile device now?

LM2 is going to

"> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">

Congrates on the success.

Unbricking a device is even not that hard unless Linux is involved. iPhone 3G & 3Gs and maybe the 4 literally is so easy it comes down to downloading software to pc and that is it. Anyone got a cns moon bluetooth rom?. I am looking to get this up and moving with a WinCE unit running Miopocket 4.0. I want to get into syncing way-points with BT enabled devices. Plus if anyone knows anything about those EBook Readers at Menards I am all ears. I think they are going to $59.00 and these things appear to look as if they are begging to become PC based tablets.

Actually, even at bricking, I saw some threads last night that had links to where you download an "SBF" and get your phone back, or something along those lines.

Just don't ask me where those threads were. I was clicking so many links in different threads, at one point I had 10 windows open on the PC.

Now it's time to tear the new radio out of the '11 Dodge Ram I bought to install the OEM backup camera.

One other issue I had was I still had ZEAM installed. I greatly prefer the launcher that Apex uses.

Yep, just Googled flashing ROM recovery "DroidX" and found:

Hold camera + volume down + power to get into the bootloader. Hold Home+power, but once it's on, and just a black screen, press search to bring up stock recovery, then wipe data and cache. Reboot after that.

If this does not work I guess it is off to SBFing like MW2 said:

I have always recovered a hard of soft bricked mobile device, but that is with PDA's and GPS units. May take awhile with figuring out and coming back to it, but always get the device to boot in the end. As long as a device does not have failed hardware or been soaked in water recovery can be had. wink I love recovery so much that I love it when a storage device or hard drive fails. I get to deploy my arsenal of software. grin

Edit: I take that back. I did just unlock an iPhone 2G a friend of mine bought that was jail broke back in Feb... If you are buying an unlocked smart mobile device from a private party, they show you it works and right before handing it over and they do a clear all data delete/reset, wait till the reset is done before handing the cash over for the device. I could go into what I did, but it gets boring. grin
