schooley's ice rods

jigglestick

Question

a friend from wisconsin was up on Winnie this year. he was perch fishing, using a rod I've never seen before.

I asked him and he showed me. it was a schooley's ice rod. I had never heard of this rod before so I did some research only to find out they are quite common in some regions and I have even seen some of there spring bobber poles in use by some of our wisconsin guys in the past.

the pole he had was long. that's what caught my eye, also, that it had a very sensetive tip.

it appeared a greenish color but the last five or six inches of the rod were different collor, like orange or yellow.

he told me the bait shop where he bought them had a bunch more and he would buy me a couple and send them up but now he said the bait shop was sold out of them when he returned home, so...I'm looking for one or a couple of these rods.

they were maybey 30 - 36 inches long.

anybody know where to find them or even what I'm talking about so I can search for them?

I had to memorize the name so I did not even try to memorize anything past that...I know, it's the first thing to go

Jigs do a search and you will come up with a few spots that sell them. Sportsmans, Icehole and a few more. If you like them JR's has a long super sensitive tipped rod with different colred tip that I really like. Its just like a extra long Jason Mitchel meatstick.

I already di d the search.

still not sure which rod it was, but according to my preliminary results, I think it was the frosty red. at least 30 inches long.

to me it looked like the perfect late ice crappie and gill whip.

I plan to do quite a bit more hole hopping before the open water takes over.

if anyone has first hand info on these, like manufacturer HSOforum, please let me know.

I will check on those other rods lander, but I'm not spending fifty bucks.

these rods went for like 12 bucks at the bait shop.

thanks

Jiggles I got them JR's rods for $10 each at the ice show. If they arent on his HSOforum call and ask for Joel and let him know you want some of Northlanders favorite crappie rods with the super soft colored tips. He will know what your talking about. He had like 3 lengths and I prefer the 28"ers I think. I use the longest ones for hole hoppin outside the house.
