HP printer connection issue

Recommended Posts

I'm running a current updated version of windows xp and I'm having some connection issues with my HP all-in-one printer (printer/scanner/fax/and media card reader). I recently installed a new keyboard and USB mouse using the software that comes with them (they both have programmable keys). My old mouse was using the green mouse port previously, if that makes a difference. Since the new install, my computer doesn't show that the printer is connected. I double checked the connections, shut down the computer, and then reinstalled the printer software. It worked for 1 day. After a restart, I've lost connection again. It must be some kind of usb port/ip error. Anyone have an easy fix/suggestion?

It is not unusual for a USB port to quit working even if just for a while and if you have that many devices plugged in it could be cause issues. USB works well, but not perfect. Like PI said swap devices and see if that helps.

I had that same problem with my HP on a XP machine, I never did figure it out. I tried re installing drivers, HP software and anything else I could think of like swapping ports, changing cables etc....

Got a new computer with windows7 and everything work fine now

Good Luck
