Red-wing blackbirds are singing

Heard them singing Wendsday evening in the chisago lake area. What are are other folks signs of spring?

Monday night we saw red-winged blackbirds & robins. Tuesday morning lots of grackles & wedges of Canada geese were hauling freight northwards. Crows are calling and setting up for nesting. This morning there were seagulls and turkey vultures flying around. A friend saw some fresh pocket gopher mounds yesterday along the edge of the road. Bugtussle is SW of Owatonna.

Saw huge flocks of Robins around the yard here today!

We have been hearing Sandhill cranes for 2 weeks, and seeing them flying around for the last few days, seems early????

Kewl! We had killdeers in the pasture last night.

Lastnight on the drive home saw a pair of morning doves on a wire.

We had mourning doves all winter at the feeders. And this morning I saw Robins. Needless to say, geese flying are not a sign of spring in Rochester.

Sandhill cranes tonight down by our wetland. Could hear 'em all weekend but finally saw them during chores.

Cedar Waxwings in town and a Northern Harrier hunting the ditches near the farmland.

On the way to and back from Sioux Falls today, I counted 5 northern harriers. I saw plenty of other hawks too, more than likely red-tails. I also saw 1 herring gull in S.F. I'm jealous. The Sioux Falls area is 99.9% snow free. It looks like spring there and winter here.
