MN BassFisher
Just head to your local DMV office. Oh okay, I was hoping you;d respond since you just probably went through this last year? Do I need to bring any documents or anything to the DMV?
ted4887
Um, the serial number for the kayak for sure. Possibly a receipt of purchase? I can't remember for sure, but i'm sure if you gave them a call, they'd definitely help you out. Good luck man.
northspear
Whats the purpose of registering a Kayak? Do you need it to run lakes and rivers or what? Thanks
MN BassFisher
Yeah, I'm not sure the specifics but I believe if your in a watercraft over 9ft it needs to be registered with the state.

mainbutter
Whats the purpose of registering a Kayak? Do you need it to run lakes and rivers or what? Thanks You need to register pretty much all watercraft with the state, just like you have to register your car. For the most part it's just another way for the state to get some cash to fund the stuff it does.Just read the link I'm sure it has everything. Basically you head down to anywhere that does vehicle registration and tell them you need to register your kayak. You'll fill out some paperwork describing the watercraft (length, watercraft type/propulsion type, hull identification number, etc), and pay some money, and they'll give you stickers to put on it.You might need to bring the receipt to show that you paid sales tax. I was told you were supposed to need it, but I wasn't asked for it when I registered my canoe.
Powerstroke
If it is a NEW purchase then you will need to have the receipt to purchase. If it is used or a person to person deal then the receipt is not required. Registration is good for 3 years also.
