Astronomy question

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I had the good fortune to see a halo around the moon. In the little amount of time that I had tried to take a pic of it with my camera which happened to have a 50 on it, which was too much to get it all. But I came to the conclusion when I tried my cell that I didn't think that I could do this, with the bright moon and dull haze of a ring.

So my question is would it be possible without photoshop to make it look right mostly in camera?

Sure its possible. They key is the exposure of the halo (caused by ice crystals typically), not the moon. So you will end up with a moon that is overexposed but a halo that shows well. Your exposure time would likely be in seconds, 10-30 depending on aperture, available light in the scene, and ISO.
