How are trails north of North Branch?

I'm contemplating going for a ride next weekend (if all the stars align) and was trying to find something that's a little more country-esque and not too far from the cities. I've never been north of the North Branch area and was thinking about heading up towards Braham, Ogilvie and then maybe up to Mille Lacs area and back. What are the trails like? If it's a lot of ditch or field riding, that's really not my style - I'd prefer more woods (I've been spoiled from riding Northern MN). Also, would it be worth it to go further up north and try out the Nemadji instead of the NB and north area? Thanks for any input.

Mostly farms/fields up by Mille lacs and Ogivlie. Pretty boring riding with not-so-good trails.

The snow won't be good after this weekend/week.
