Which HandHeld GPS is Best????

Recommended Posts

So I finally have some money for a GPS, what models are best I primarily only Icefish so looking for great suggestions.

I fish Avon, Eden Valley, Paynesville, Rockville, Clearwater, Annandale lakes the most frequently. I annually go to LOTW, Leech, & Upper Red.

I know the Chip for LOTW is outrageous so won't even consider purchasing it for a 1 a year trip.

Also wondering if there are any that have a free annual update available. Even tho I have Cash I still want to keep it within reason.

I have been using an Oregon 450 and it seems to work well enough. Has a large screen and good battery life. Allows the use of the Lakemaster chips or the lake map CD (I suggest the latter if you are reasonably good on a computer). [YouNeedAuthorization] has them for a hair over $300.

Another option would be the discontinued Map60csx. It is a GREAT unit that can be had for well under $200 if you look around. Color display, WAAS, 12 channel receiver, compass, barometer, micro-SD card capable, etc. Heck of a hand held for general outdoor use.
