sharpening and old jiffy auger

I have an old jiffy ice auger with fixed (not replaceable) blades i tried sheapening them with a file. i am pretty sure i did not change the cutting angle i used a magic marker and just worked the blade until i evenly cuts the marks away but it didn't help still doesn't cut. Any body know of a place to get it sharpened or sould i upgrade the auger bit?

You have a flat side and that can't get rounder over at all. That would be the bottom of the blade.

Also look to see if the mount got bent. That'll make the heal of the blade make contact before the cutting edge which produces the same effect as rolled over the flat side. Do you have a bolt at the bottom that holds the lower portion on?

Other then that take the powerhead off and check the yellow paging under knife and chainsaw sharpening.

i will take a look and see if there is a bolt but i am pretty sure it is a welded assembly.

I have the same auger and I guy that I used to work for had a sharpening business on the side and did it. I'd give ya the number but I don't have it. Find someone that sharpens saw blades and planer and joiner blades they should be able to it ,there's a guy that has a small engine shop in Centervile that sharpened my planer blades

i checked the auger there is not a nut on the bottom. when i looked closer i noticed i crowned the teeth going to have to try again
