Flasher Help

bought an LX-5 last winter and finally got around to using it. bought it discounted as it was a test model for employees to use so they'd know what they were selling.

It reads the bottom fine but will not pick up the jig at all. I want to go through all the "fool" tests. I adjusted the gain to see if that would work and it didn't do anything. Should the bottom of the ducer be sheer black? Right now it appears kind of like there is something on the bottom (resembling that it possibly was on its storage pad for too long and became part of the bottom of the ducer?)

if i'm missing something easy let me know, or if you have any ideas post em. looking for whatever help I can get. just want to know if there is anything to try before getting a new transducer.

yup sounds like the battery is shot, otherwise it could be the ducer, the stuff on the bottom of the ducer is most likley the pad that goes in the bottom of the storage cup, it gets stuck to the ducer and glues it into the tray, but the foam that is stuck to mine causes no problems.

If you dont want to try a new battery make sure that everything is connected correctly and try it in a fish tank.

The transducer should be flat black I am pretty sure if it isn't clean it up. I would use rubbing alcohol and windex but I dont know what that would do to the plastic. It could be the ducer

Do you have any friends with the same model who might be able to play around with it?

Was 90% with the unit running?

the more I think about it the more I think it could be the battery. it said 90% when i checked it when we started. used it for just a few minutes to troubleshoot and turned it off. now when i look at it it said 70 but dropped down to 40 within a minute.

i guess they do say in the service world 90% of problems are with the power source ie "is your computer plugged in".
