Strikemaster Break In?

Finally broke down and bought a new Strikemaster Lazer Mag, the manual didn't say anything specific but was wondering if there is anything in particular I need to do to break it in before using it?

At first I thought your posting was referring to someone breaking into the Strikemaster shop.

Anyway, I bought a new Mag at the beginning of the winter and had the same question. I talked to one of the SM techs at the ice show and he said that nothing special needs to be done. Just make sure you are following the gas/oil mix that is stated in the owners manual, which I believe is 40:1. Also like Russ said, keep the rpms low for a while. The tech told me the most important thing you can do is to let it idle and warm up for a few minutes before you start drilling.

I bought the same auger and am still on my 1st gallon of gas - No break in according to SM themselves (I called before I ran mine).

Very pleased with performance so far. I think the next step will be Amsoil on tank 2-4, but it's cutting like butter so far. As MudPuppy said, utilize the warm-up minute as well. It's a good motor, let it do the work.

Anyway: No break in according to the manufacturer. wink
