Vista Wireless Network

Strange problem here. I recently did a factory restore on my Compaq Laptop. At that point I had zero issues connecting to my wireless network that is using a Cisco router.

After the restore, the adapter connects to the network immediately, but then takes about 5 minutes to connect to the internet. It says, "Identifying".

Not a huge issue except every time that I close the lid, it goes to sleep and turns the adapter off and I have to go through the whole waiting process again.

Any ideas on this one?

Get the latest drivers for the wireless, that would be a good place to start. The drivers that came with the factory install may be outdated.

Here's an interesting side note. I thought my battery was toast and hadn't used battery power in months. It would only last minutes when unplugged and then shutdown. After the restore, the battery is like new!

1st time I heard of that with the battery, but with the way windows controls things it doesn't really surprise me.

Sounds like you had a bunch of junk on the computer! when in down update drivers.
