Jospeh
Finally got out and walked a creek today. Felt good to see moving water, did end up getting a few small browns. My first time actually winter fishing them so i was pretty stoked up. Pictures will be up soon. Any body else getting out there? ,,,,,, Jos
ted4887
Congrats Joseph. I also went out today in the Whitewater SP area. Unfortunately, I had zero luck, but wasn't so much focused in on landing a fish so much as I was just learning how to cast a fly rod. What area did you fish? Jospeh
HAHHAHAH i don't know why people cal me joseph on here, Jospeh is my dogs name. Guess it kind of looks like Joseph. But fished further south on land I recently gained access to. usually not picky about telling spots but want to fish this one a little more until i give it up. But i will be going out again once my back starts to hurt again from sitting in the ice house!
ted4887
Haha, sorry about the name confusion. I wasn't looking for spot, more just a general area(western winona county, southern goodhue, ect.) I didn't see a soul out today besides a few snowshoers. The people that saw me, looked at me like I was nuts! I thought today was quite nice for a mid-winter day though. Did you fish through the snow this morning as well?
Jospeh
Yes sir,,,, not as much snow as i thought... guess the rain washed some of it away.
Lunker
I to wanted to get into some trout, so I went another route and chased rainbows through the ice today(in WI on a lake that is open til march). First time I have targeted trout through the ice specifically. Caught a half dozen rainbows and lost another half dozen. Nothing to brag about, nothing broke the 12" minimum for the lake, but it was fun. They were super aggressive. Also caught a bunch of gills to fill out the action. troutcrazymn
Hey guys, A friend and I went out on Jaunuary 2nd really cold -4 when we arrived at the river in s goodhue cnty. We each caught 2 fish over about four hours. He caught one nice 15 inch brown, put up a really nice fight too. All the others where 12 inches, I had a brown and a brook. The Brookie was really colorful. We started out trying to fly fish, but swithced to spinning gear. 3 fish caught on panter martins in the back end of deep pools reeling really slow keeping them near the bottom, and the brookie was caught on a white bodied pink head 1/16 oz fuzzy grub, right off the front of a pile of wood, saw 15 other fish dart out from this wod pile. Had a few other soft bites. Strangly only the brookie was with other fish, really surprised they weren't grouped up together more in the pools we fished, at least we didn't get more bites or see any more fish. I might try to get out again on the 15th.troutcrazy
