bigpike
Hi - what is the difference between a Mercury Optimax and a Mercury ELPTO? Both are 90 horse models. From what I have found online the Optimax is a direct injected 2 stroke and the ELPTO may be a 4 stroke? Thanks. Larson15
ELPTO = Electric Start-Long Shaft-Power Trim-Oil Injected The ELPTO is also a carbed 2 stroke motor and the optimax is direct injected two stroke. The optimax would be a better choice. It will start a lot easier, produce less smoke, burn half as much fuel, and have more power.
